Airbus Atlantic: a digital dress rehearsal saves 30%+ of commissioning time
In aircraft manufacturing, with complex processes and very tight accuracy, FASTSUITE virtual validation and offline programming act as a digital dress rehearsal, saving at least 30% of robot cell commissioning and calibration time.
The customer
Airbus Atlantic is Airbus’s core manufacturing unit in France, with complex production processes and very high demands on robot accuracy.
The challenge
Traditional robot programming needs a lot of on-site commissioning and repeated validation: slow, labour-intensive and error-prone, with a direct impact on production scheduling and project delivery.
The FASTSUITE solution
FASTSUITE virtual validation and offline programming simulate the whole production process precisely before physical production starts, as a digital “dress rehearsal” that finds and fixes robot programming problems in advance. The platform also serves as a risk-free operator training platform, where new staff gain experience in the virtual environment.
This standardised digital validation process has been rolled out to new equipment and new project integrations in Airbus plants worldwide.
Results
Robot cell commissioning and calibration time cut by at least 30%, across key processes such as virtual commissioning, drilling and riveting.
What the customer says
“Our goal was to use the world’s most advanced digital twin to get shorter commissioning and calibration times and lower trial-and-error costs. FASTSUITE let us meet all of these goals directly.”
